I play my piano
A simple tune
He slowly makes his way in behind me
He doesn't speak
Only listens
He sways side to side serenely

He sits on my bed
He bounces a little
Keeping time to the music I play
He walks to me
Sits beside me
Plays his little heart away

Not hitting proper notes
But his music is beautiful
Escaping his veil
He can talk with this
This keyboard-playing

But soon he gets upset
Something triggered him,
He hits the keys
BANG
He scrunches his face
He scratches his ears
They turn red
He bites his hand
It leaves deep marks
Permanent marks
He can't stop
It's too much

He hits the keys some more
I pull his hand from his mouth
It's hard because he won't give up
Silently he starts to cry

He doesn't say anything.
He only rocks back and forth
He doesn't say anything
He never says anything.
i wasn't sure about putting this up, but i figure i handed it in to be read for english class, so i guess it's ok for deviantart.

Oh, man. I'll bet, though, he perceives the world completely differently than we do--and not just to the extent that the scientists and doctors say, but to a land much different than that. Sometimes, it seemes that he, in his other world, is much calmer and more secure because it is such a wonderful place. However, when he's brought back to the reality and the cruel world around him, i wonder... Also, make no mistake taht when I speak of his other world, it is not him being stuck within his own head. If it makes any sense, him being stuck within his own mind is the reality and cruel world he lives within.

Anyway, well done, and actually I thought it was Max bouncing on your bed and hitting the off notes at first--then he started biting himself and I got a bit confused.... I was frightened for Max for a sec, but it makes much more sense by the end. And profound. nicely done.
